SECOND CHANCES
I believe in second
chances. No one is perfect, and as poet Alexander Pope said, “to err is human.”
So why not give someone a second chance to fix what is broken? We would not be
where we are today if it was not for second chances, and even the greatest love
stories, like that of Rhett Butler and Scarlett, and Noah and Allie, would never have existed if there were
no second chances.
Rhett Butler loved Scarlett
with all his might. He knew that Scarlett was a young, rebellious woman; and
when she made mistakes he took her disposition into account before calling
their marriage quits. There was no way for Scarlett to realize the mistakes she
made until she saw Rhett’s sadness. The second chance allotted to her by Rhett
was what enabled her to learn from her misbehaviors, and rekindle their
marriage.
The love of Noah and Allie
is one every girl hopes to experience one day, and it is all because of the devotion
and forgiveness Noah showed Allie. At the end of their summer romance, Noah was
left brokenhearted when Allie returned home. Years later, when Allie came back
to Seabrook hoping for forgiveness, he was able to let go of his heartache, and
gave Allie another chance to live the happy life they longed for. They succeeded
in getting their happily ever after.
People always ask, “Can
people really change?” But, you will never truly know unless you give someone a
second chance.
